Why is talking about your end of life wishes important?

Conversations before the ‘crisis’ allows time for you and your loved ones to have an honest discussion about your values and wishes on end of life care.¬† Reflecting and planning gives opportunity to discover important information about yourself and your loved ones.

Talking with your loved ones about your health care preferences; talking with your doctor about your options so that you can make informed decisions

It is important to have the conversation that focuses in on your wishes and beliefs and why you are making them, it will help relieve your loved ones and health care providers of having to guess what you would want.

The most important gift that you can give to yourself and to your loved ones is to prepare for your end of life knowing that you were in control of the decisions regarding your final care giving. ¬†Remember, it’s up to you to take the initiative and express your wishes.
